To a sustainable economic growth: CDPI holds its first forum on Fair Market Competition in Davao

By: Arnie Fe Escabusa

DAVAO CITY, PH – The Centrist Democracy Political Institute (CDPI) held its first forum on “Fair Competition act and Social Market Economy: Strengthening Regional Economy” at the Royal Mandaya Hotel last April 18. It was graced by representatives from various business sectors in Davao region, Academe, CSO’s and NGO’s, and young professionals.

With a goal of “promoting sustainable economic development” and “building a meaningful alliance to accomplish and support common goals”, CDPI introduced comprehensive reforms mainly the Fair Competition Act of 2014 (Anti-Trust Law) co-authored by Cong. Rufus B. Rodriguez, representative of the second district of Cagayan de Oro City and President of the Centrist Democratic Party of the Philippines (CDP), and the Social Market Economy.

The forum was ensued by speakers from CDPI namely its Training Coordinator April de la Cruz, Executive Director, Migdonio Clamor who presented the topic on Fair Competition Act as a pursuit to inclusive growth, and its esteemed President, Lito Lorenzana who introduced the Centrist Democratic Alliance (CDA).

Furthermore, Dr. Adrian M. Tamayo, Director Quantitative Studies of Research and Publication Center in the University of Mindanao presented a fundamental discussion on the concepts of Centrist Democracy and the Social Market Economy.

The forum has created a dynamic discussion following the participants’ queries and reservations on issues of economic growth and political renewal. An initial core group is expected to be formed after the said forum.

Core groups established through the CDA have been initiated nationwide. Its host, the CDPI, is a politically oriented non-government organization that envisions a Philippines where all its citizen can live in dignity and given the opportunity to participate actively in the democratic process.
