The Centrist Democratic Party of the Philippines (CDP) - Ang Partido ng Tunay na Demokrasya will conduct its 12th National Council Meeting on 25 November 2016 in Makati City and 7th National Congress on 26 November 2016 in Silang, Cavite.
To be attended by more than a hundred of elected representatives from different CDP chapters nationwide, CDP will discuss and further its local and national initiatives in pursuing Federalism in the Philippines as one of its major advocacies.
Aside from the elected delegates coming from various cities, municipalities and provinces, CDP elective officials through its organized group “Simula ng Bagong Umaga Landasin (SIBUL) headed by Cong. Maximo Rodriguez
Carrying its theme “Conference and Dialogue on the Initiatives of Federalist Groups and Institutions towards the Roadmap to Federalism”, the invited discussants will talk about the efforts to install a federalist system of government and how we can achieve a national federal set-up.
Hon. Ismael “Mike” Sueno, Secretary, Department of Interior and Local Government; Prof. Jonathan Malaya, the Executive Director of PDP-Laban Federalism Institute; and Mr. Benedikt Seemann, Representative to the Philippines, Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung will be the lead discussants.
The speeches will be followed by a panel discussion, and the national council meeting proper will be held in the afternoon.
National Council Meeting
The call to order will be lead by Mr. Lito Monico C. Lorenzana, Chairperson of Centrist Democratic Party and President of Centrist Democracy Political Institute. After which is the reading, adoption, and approval of the Minutes of the 11th NC Meeting; and Agenda of the 12th National Council Meeting. Atty. Rufus B. Rodriguez, Centrist Democratic Party, President, will give the open remarks and the introduction before the council.
The meeting will present reports regarding the update from the Office of the National Secretariat, Sector Associations (CDYAP and SIBUL), and updates from all chapters. Hon. Maximo B. Rodriguez, Representative, Second District of Cagayan de Oro City, Chairperson of CDP-SIBUL, will present the legislative initiatives of CDP in the House of Representatives.
The council meeting will also hold the election of Executive Board of the National Council and followed with discussions.
The party chairperson will report on the strategic recruitment, nationwide Federalism campaign, and report on the progress of the CDPI Fellows’ initiatives. Dr. Peter Koeppinger, Consultant to CDP, will discuss about monitoring of implementation of party guidelines and strategies. The concluding message will be given by the party president.
The meeting will be ended through a fellowship and a solidarity night.
